Poster, “Dance on the Winter Gardens...” Broadside, Letterpress printed on tinted cardboard. White River Junction region. ca. mid-20th century, c.e.
Jimmy Packard and his Dixie Five, long time performers in the White River Jct. area, advertised their services in this poster for an event at the Dance Hall “above the Bowling Alleys.” As these alleys were later a nightclub (“Northern Lights Blues Bar”) and then, in the 1980s, the Lena’s Lunch restaurant 42 South Main Street, the dance hall must have been the second floor of this building, now tragically devolved into a slum tenement in the hands of absentee landlords.
(Pre-1997 Museum, former catalog number 36.)
