Biography
Cyrus was an officer for the Continental Army during the American Revolution. He was appointed an ensign in the 1st New Jersey Regiment on September 18, 1776, was promoted to second, and then first, lieutenant in 1777. On March 11, 1780 he was commissioned a captain lieutenant and in December 1780 a captain. In January 1781 he transferred to the 2nd New Jersey Regiment, where he served until the end of the war.[1]
After the war, on 25 Dec 1787, he married Mary Boudinet Chetwood. Among their children, all baptized at the St. John Episcopal Church in Elizabeth, New Jersey, are:

- Aaron Ogden, bpt. 28 Oct 1810
