Some artifacts just cry out for the archival storage capabilities of mylar. Some are damp, or dirty, or come in several pieces. Or they smell bad.
Shedding and molting items come to mind. We have several here at the Main Street Museum. And we just sweep it all up. In all cases, put them in a clean, crisp mylar bag. Its what museums do.
