In the Past, we have Floated! Appreciate the River with us, on July 4th!
This year our 4th of July River Flotilla featured, a "Bring Your Own BBQ", live music, and an honoring of an historic United States Flag. Who knows, some stray tramps might even blow up a safe!

Our 4th of July schedule starts on the 3rd.

July Third is First Friday in downtown Rio Blanco. And is sure to feature something pleasing to all. These events are open to the public, Gentlemen, Ladies and Children are invited. Happy Birthday America!

  • Friday, July 3rd—First Fridays Display and honoring of a 10-foot-long, 46-star United States Flag (1907-1912) from the Burlington, Vermont estate of General O.O. Howard, who served in the Civil War. And a real live descendant of The General will display select items from his own extensive collection of souvenirs of the U.S. Bicentennial celebrations of 1976! Things like faux-colonial mugs, an ashtray purchased in Chester, Vermont, and a necktie with the Bicentennial logo!!!! PLUS! Readings, patriotic music (including live renditions of presidential campaign songs, including Gerald Ford's) and an opening reception featuring cupcakes and champagne 6 to 9 p.m. FREE ADMISSION. And in the spirit of O.O. Howard, please consider bringing some canned food for the food shelf at the Upper Valley Haven in White River Junction.
  • Saturday, July 4th—Annual Fourth of July River Appreciation Day
    • 7 - 8 p.m.—Patriotic readings from the works of Achsa Sprague and Calvin Coolidge and a live demonstration of "How to Crack a Safe" by Wiley the Tramp (with her dog) and Stumps Duh Clown. Free.
    • 7 - 8 p.m.—BYO-BBQ. We provide the coals. You bring food and drink. Free.
    • 8 p.m.—Live music, guitar and strummin' and pickin' and singin' by Stumps Duh Clown from New Orleans and friends and You. Bring your own Instrument for a Musical Hoedown—$8 sliding scale donation.

For all July 4 events, in the spirit of O.O. Howard, please consider bringing some canned food for the food shelf at the Upper Valley Haven in White River Junction.
