Union Civil War Officer and Surgeon. He was born in Ohio, and lived in Cincinnati. He served the US Volunteer Army as a Surgeon first with the 13th Missouri Infantry and then with the 22nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry with the rank of Major. He was promoted during the war to the position as Medical Director of the 2nd Division in the VII Corps. He was mustered out of service late in 1864 and returned to Cincinnati practicing medicine as a doctor. He died from chronic diarrhea at a hospital near his residence when he was 46 years old.
