William Thompson
William Thompson was the son of William Thompson, who settled in the present town of Goshen at an early period. He was one of the representatives of the county in 1788, and was a state senator from 1797 to 1800. In 1788 he was appointed first judge of the Court of Common Pleas of the county, and held the office one term. Of his descendents we have no other information than that a daughter married Dr. William Elmer, of Goshen.
In 1793 he and Richard Varick, Robert R. Livingston George Clinton and others petitioned the state for incorporation to promote agriculture, arts, and manufactures." –p. 379.
In 1813, William Thompson, as well as Robert, Alexander and Elizabeth Thompson, listed as highway supervisors, for district 16, "Thompson's Ridge." –p. 417
